Bill Gates se despide emocionado de Microsoft

Bill Gates se despidió el viernes de Microsoft, el gigante de la industria del software que fundó con su amigo de infancia Paul Allen en 1975, para centrarse en sus actividades filantrópicas dirigidas a mejorar la salud y reducir la pobreza a lo largo del mundo.

"No habrá un día en mi vida en el que no esté pensando en Microsoft y en las grandes cosas que está haciendo, y desee ayudar ", expresó un emocionado Gates durante su discurso de despedida en la sede de la compañía en Redmond, Washington.

Tras décadas dedicado a Microsoft, el que fuera una vez el hombre más rico del mundo, tiene previsto prestar una total atención a las actividades filantrópicas que realiza desde la Fundación Bill y Melinda Gates, la organización de este estilo más grande del mundo, que fundó junto a su esposa en 1994.

El matrimonio Gates, cuya fortuna está estimada en unos 58.000 millones de dólares USA, principalmente por su participación en el accionariado de Microsoft, ha prometido donar casi toda esta suma a su fundación, que actualmente cuenta con 40.000 millones de dólares.

Como principal accionista individual de Microsoft, Gates, de 52 años, permanecerá en el cargo de presidente no ejecutivo de la compañía y trabajará en algunos proyectos tecnológicos especiales. (Xinhua)
